We haven’t seen the original blueprints, but the Pacific Coast of California seems to have been custom built for road trips. Climb in and prepare for eight days spent cruising around Los Angeles and up the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, stopping in Santa Barbara, checking out San Simeon and Monterey, exploring San Francisco on foot, playing in the surf and generally having the time of your life, Cali-style. The best part? On this road trip, we do all the driving.

Travel north along the beautiful Pacific coast this morning, passing through the iconic beach communities of Santa Monica and Malibu. Stop by the “End of the Trail” of Historic Route 66 and at an iconic California lifeguard tower made famous by “Baywatch.” Then It’s on to Santa Barbara, where palm-lined walkways border white sandy beaches. Stop for lunch, and enjoy the cities Spanish architecture before continuing to a quaint central coast town.

Afterwards, take in the sights, sounds and smells of Monterey at Old Fisherman’s Wharf and explore Cannery Row’s historic waterfront district, John Steinbeck’s inspiration for his novel of the same name.
