Start with the world’s entertainment capital, with its casinos, shows and shopping and then it’s off to the contrasting peace and solitude of Death Valley – the hottest place on earth. From there it’s onwards and upwards into the Mammoth Lakes ski resort, high in the Sierra Nevada mountains. We then head through the Tioga Pass and enter the raw beauty of Yosemite National Park, with its peaks, waterfalls, bears and cougars! It’s back to civilisation after that and the lovely coastal city of San Francisco for a host of sightseeing opportunities.
Our tour continues down the Californian coast, visiting the Monterey Peninsula with its glorious beaches and the quaint seaside town of Carmel-by-the-sea along the way. We then continue south to the white beaches of Santa Barbara, the glamour of Malibu and Santa Monica, where the iconic Route 66 ends. Enjoy the bustle of Los Angeles – including Beverley Hills and the Hollywood Walk of Fame – before we head back to Las Vegas through the arid beauty of the Mojave Desert.

- Monterey’s Cannery Row was immortalised in John Steinbeck’s 1945 novel and was the centre of the sardine industry. Its old warehouses are now packed with shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy.
- If you like to be beside the seaside, make the most of the spectacular Californian beaches in Monterey, Malibu and Santa Barbara, or have lunch at Santa Monica pier or a go for a ‘beach bike’ ride.
- If you don’t want your tour to end, we can fix that with optional extensions in Las Vegas, San Diego in southern California or the welcoming island of Hawaii among others that can be arranged.

Today starts with a stop at the iconic Las Vegas Welcome Sign where you may wish to capture your photo memory of Las Vegas. Having enjoyed glamorous Las Vegas, it will be a sharp contrast this afternoon to enter the quiet and extreme environment of Death Valley. Stop at Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Ranch before continuing across the valley and ascending the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the alpine resort town of Mammoth Lakes**. The area gained prominence as a gold mining town in the 19th century and today is renowned for the superior skiing terrain and staggeringly beautiful mountain vistas. Motorcoach tour commences. Passengers should meet in the lobby of the designated Hotel at 07:30 hours for an 08:00 hours departure.
